“The whole day of our romantic wedding in Monemvasia was so special to me, I enjoyed every second”, Nichole, the lovely bride shared with us.
“In 2011, the first time we had traveled to Greece together we had visited Monemvasia, and I fell in love with it. It was just such a beautiful place. As we were climbing to the top of Monemvasia we actually joked that this would be a great place to get married. We were only there a few hours but I knew we would be back… Monemvasia is also not too far away from Dimitri’s family village and olive farms”
“My wedding dress was designed by Mori Lee. I added the beaded belt. The dress had a sweatheart neckline and was a fit and flare type style with a lot of beading. Thankfully the material did not wrinkle since I was flying and traveling with the dress”, Nichole shared with us.
The couple met while working at a Greek Restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland called the Black Olive and Dimitris proposed to Nichole during a trip to Santorini: “We decided to go on a Catamaran Boat Cruise. It was just before sunset on the cruise when Dimitri told me he was going to change into dry clothes. He came back with dry clothes and a ring in his pocket because a few minutes later he asked me to marry him right at sunset. It was a perfect moment!
“The best moment was having my father and mother walk with me through Monemvasia to the Church of Elkomenos Christos and seeing Dimitri with his family and friends waiting outside the church. I also greatly enjoyed our ceremony. The church is gorgeous inside…”
Planning a destination wedding definitely is not an easy task, however Nichole and Dimitri’s wedding in Monemvasia turned out to be a perfect fairytale wedding: “Our wedding planner, the talented IOANNA VAMVAKARI did an amazing job with the decorations and the overall planning. Our photographers, Sotiris and Olga from Mindart Photography did an outstanding job. I was sad to say goodbye to them because we had spent so much time together the day of the wedding. The day after the wedding we also took many photos around Kinsterna Hotel & Spa. They were such a lovely couple and made us feel so comfortable. Sotiris knew the timeline for the wedding day and answered many of my questions. He even coordinated our transportation from the church to the hotel. We didn’t have to worry about anything on our wedding day. Theo from Kinsterna was also always available to answer our questions and to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. I can’t say enough about this entire team, they made us feel like family”.
All the wedding details and decorative ideas were wildly gorgeous… to say the least. Wedding planner Ioanna Vamvakari shared with us: “At the wedding reception, the couple requested to sit at their own table… just the two of them, in the center, surrounded by all the guests tables. They were decorated with flower bouquets and vintage brass candlesticks. In the entire reception area we placed over 1350 (!) mason jar candles that created a romantic soft lighting. At the reception entrance area, the guests were greeted with a rustic table made out an old door and two wine barrels. The escort cards were placed in corks (a beautiful DIY project handled by the bride herself!) and the table was decorated with luscious flower arrangements that included white hydrangeas, Chinese carnations-all placed beautifully in wooden wine boxes.”
For wedding favors the guests were given handmade burlap and lace satchels filled with traditional Greek wedding candy called koufeta. A wonderful thank you gift for each guest was also placed on the wedding tables: Bottles of Greek olive oil, a wonderful idea for a destination wedding in Greece.
For Nichole and Dimitris it was their dream to have their romantic wedding in Monemvasia. The location was very important to the couple since having the wedding in Monemvasia meant that family members near and dear to their heart were able to be with them on the most important day of their life.
With this amazing film by WEDFILMS CINEMATOGRAPHY we are taking on a little trip to one of the most beautiful Greek islands, the pictureperfect Santorini. As the talented team from WedFilms Cinematography shared with us: “The time we met Andrew and Katie, a couple with a lot of fun, energy and full of emotions, we quickly realized that those two wonderful people are head over heels in love and we need to capture it! When we arrived we also met both families…everybody was so lovely! Kisses and tears. Tears of love during the ceremony… the moments when Katie and Andrew became one. After watching this, you will believe again in fairytales”.
