Bloggers say I do | Amor Pra Sempre – Monica

I am so happy today to feature the re-imagined wedding of a very talented blogger-mother-entrepreneur and all around amazing lady, Monica the founder and editor of Amor Pra Sempre. In her own words, her wedding blog “…addresses issues that are important to the Portuguese brides. But not only! It is also be a place where vendors can better understand what customers look for…their questions and desires.  We aim to inspire the Portuguese brides and awaken them to this new world of weddings that is already blooming in Portugal!”

Thank you Monika for “inviting” us to your re-imagined wedding!

“Well, I never thought that I would re-imagine my wedding… Maybe because I had a civil wedding and then became a blogger and what often goes in my head is, since I didn’t get married in a church it’s a good excuse to get married again!! And so, I would have another wedding with a different style and with wonderful vendors who can only give further life to this day!”

The wedding style

“I don’t know if I will ever do it… but I do have it on my mind! Something very different from the one I had… It would be an outside wedding. A garden wedding! Let me use all the clichés that can fit in there: long tables… wildflowers but very colorful. Color brings harmony and elevates us to a level of peace and love! And many, many little lights! I don’t know if it’s fashionable or not, but after marrying in a romantic hotel, it only makes sense to commune with nature! Ideally it would take place in a garden near our home, as the city of Porto…a city that remains our favorite place in the world”

The wedding dress & shoes

“Something bohemian. A dress that would definitely fit. I love backless dresses… and sexy dresses but something that also allows you to move, dance, be free. This would be my choice. As for the shoes … .because I’m only 1,54 m … I wouldn’t go barefoot! So that being said, heels would always need to go with the dress … Probably I would choose something comfortable and with skin color, but I would also take a pair of Josefinas! Definitely!”

The wedding ceremony location & wedding reception venue

“The gardens of Serralves or Casa Allen would be the ideal place for this celebration and we would not have more than 50 guests. Our family and close friends. Only in this manner, we can celebrate together and everybody can participate. I am not personally a big wedding party kind of person. The intimate weddings, in my opinion, are much richer in emotion. To me, a  wedding is not a party… it is a sharing of love and friendship. Well… I don’t know if we would exchange vows or if you would laugh more or cry more – happy tears of course! But I know for sure that our wedding would be something that we would want to treasure: at some point, we would step away from the guests, go to a corner where we can see everyone, hold each other hands and without having to say anything we would realize that… this is our life. These are our most beloved people on earth… together, happy, forgetting everything and creating new memories. This is one of the best days ever!”

Wedding favors

“I would make sure that the guests would remember it. Upon leaving, the guests would have a memory to hold on with some notes to make them smile. Something sweet to eat together on the next morning, or on their way home. A little thank you note, a personalized one would be the best favor for sure. I know everyone will keep it forever…”

What would/will you do to entertain your wedding guests

“It would be hours of laughter, stories, intense moments, great photos and a wonderful video that would make us relive this unique moment time after time. I can imagine everyone dancing Bossa Nova, and just wondering in small groups, talking and drinking some summer cocktails or our favorite drink for the day. I can see them embracing and playing with the kids (lots of them by the way! And wouldn’t have forgotten them! We would have loads of toys and two girls dressed up like funny characters to play with them!). Some blankets to keep everyone warm as the night falls, even if it’s August and warm… Also would have large pillows for the children to rest for a while. And for the grown ups can just lay down and watch the stars, as the music makes them go back in time and remember their own wedding…”

“Now I would say: Let’s go to…. Japan. And Paulo would say No, Rio de Janeiro!... We still have to figure out where we want to go on our honeymoon, but after having two kids, all we would need is a  beach and some time to meditate!
